Fluorocarbon Leader

Fluorocarbon Leader material is typically used over standard monofilament because it reflects less light in the water and its much more abrasion resistant than monofilament line. This is important when your targeting certain species of Salt & Freshwater fish that have abrasive mouths like Snook, Tarpon or Bass, along with Pelagic’s like Marlin, Swordfish & Sailfish. However, if your targeting Wahoo, King Mackerel, or Sharks you will probably want to go with single or multi – strand leader cable. A Wahoo’s teeth are capable of cutting right through 200 Lb. Fluorocarbon Leader material is also heavy and dense, so it sinks quicker into the water column. Typically, most Anglers will tie on a section of Fluorocarbon Leader to their Monofilament or Braided Fishing Line.
