This light is almost identical to the original equipment, except it is solid grass (the original was plated), and the inside is white so it reflects more light. I bought the adapters to convert to LED lights which also made them brighter and lower current draw.
After I installed this light, the bulb softened the plastic housing and the light bulb kept popping out and shooting across the room. This is a very cheap and unsafe product. You might risk a fire in your sailboat. Don’t buy this product.
Honestly, I'm getting more and more impressed wth Sea-Dog line stuff...
Very cheaply built.Smaller than you think. If you do buy this item do not attempt to use the three screws that come with it. I guarantee you they will strip out and either you won’t be able to finish putting it in or you won’t be able to get it out
Very nice quality lights. Small for the boat V-birth. Placed one over each bunk and they look so much nicer than the larger ones that came on the Tollycraft. Actually give a nautical look, which the original did not. Very happy with our purchase.
I bought 3 of these expecting a rugged, heavy duty lamp. Thats what I expect when I shell out $60 each for a marine lamp. Well the product turned out to be more on the chintzy side. I was disappointed but had been waiting for these to come so thought I would hook them up and see how they lit up the space. I left them on for about 10 minutes when all of a sudden I smelled hot plastic kind of odor. I walk over to the lights and sniff around them. Yes there is a strange smell. I move the lamp and …the light goes out! What the heck?Upon looking closer I notice the bulb is not seated properly anymore. The socket is plastic (why?) and as the bulb warms up, it was bent apart by the bulb and spring that keeps the bulb in contact with positive. The bulb literally slipped out of its socket—-the very bulb that came with this light.Do NOT buy these cheap, overpriced lamps. They probably cost 3 dollars to make in Taiwan and they are selling them here for $60.Sea Dog, really? That was the last product I will ever buy of yours!!
We were looking for an additional light for our houseboat that was not LED. This matched the others perfectly.
We updated eight reading lights on our schooner Kai Kanani with the Sea Dog lights, and they look great, were easy to install, and work perfectly. Thank you!
Nice product. Exact replacement for my 1987 sailboat. Even the mounting holes line up.
