Keeps batteries ready to go but most importantly it extends the life.. no more shot battery after a cold winter hook um up and walk away
Would not recommend less than a year and not working
I had a problem with the house batteries and the charging on my sailboat. I replaced both the batteries (one was 23 years old). Once installed, everything was great! The unit showed that all batteries were ok and charged. What a joy to have all problems solved!Super joyed with the unit.
Over the summer I would have given this 5 stars but 10 months later were getting ready to put the boat in the lake and it doesn't work. Our last charger lasted 7 years and it was an inexpensive off brand one. Will never buy this brand again.
the charger only worked for about 5 months
The last Promariner I had was exceptional. I had no problems with the product. I kept my batteries at peak power and maintained them well. Money well spent. Thank you.
100%
Perfect
Installed the onboard charger, worked as designed for about 3 months before failing. called customer support to walk me through some troubleshooting steps and could not get it to work. Im also burnt on the fact that i installed a waterproof outlet for this charger which voids any warranty. I will not be replacing with a ProMariner product, Norco GEN is the way to go.
Here's my problem. I have just ordered my third unit. After 5 years of using first unit it just quit with no warning. All output fuses checked good by removing fuses and using a meter to verify. Nothing on the chager would light up. The Second (new) unit has several improvements over the first. So I felt it should have good protection. My fault as I didn't read warranty well enough to realize it would be voided if power cord was cut. I had hard wired both of these units to a through hull inlet.… The new unit fired up immediately and worked fine for over two months. It appeared to be a great charger taking care of all three batteries. After not using boat for a while I powered up as usual and nothing. No lights at all. All fuses checked good. Input power a solid 120 volts. I called ProMariner's customer support and was told warrany was voided when cord was cut. I asked why is there not a incoming fuse or some king of reset to protect from a surge or what ever on incoming and the answer was your warranty was voided. I get it and will swallow the cost of this still new unit. So now I'm thinking ok I will install a power cord from the through hull receptical and plug the charger into that and if this one fails it will be covered. What's the difference. The newer through hull recepticals which are advertised are same as the one I have but they have a power cord attached already. The power extension cord I use is a dedicated input line with nothing else attached to it. The power cord used as a supply line is a heavy duty cord. Everything is called waterproof. Boat is on a lift and is somewhat protected by a large roof. So my thoughts are why are these chargers not protected on incoming power with either a fuse or a resetable type of breaker. All electrical devices are subject to surges. What about plugging in the power cord alone which can cause a surge . Something internal in these units is failing. Remeber the charger has it's feed wires going to the batteries protected by fuses from shorts from the batteries. What's the reason for no protection on the 120 volt feed line input side. The customer service rep had no interest in talking about the unit failing and what might have caused it. Only said if no lights the unit must be sent back to factory. He must have said if cord is cut warranty is voided at least five times. All I can say is this person avoided discussing any details about the unit suddenly failing. By the way I have made special brackets for mounting this unit in a cool area with good air flow 360 degrees. If this new unit fails in the same way I will update this review.
