At first, and after following the instructions, the compass functioned accurately, if not precisely on Eastern headings. After two months, it was demagnetized and has stopped providing even remotely useful cardinal directions.

Total BS! Nothing on this unit is 6 x 6. Not sure how many folks have dealt with Ritchie, but this is the second fail based on exaggerated information such crap.

The product description stated 6"X6"X6" which is not accurate. The packaging was that size but not the actual product. The drain holes in the bottom let out a substantial amount of the light at night time but the light does not light up the compass itself very well.
