USCG Type IV Life-Saving Devices can take the form of a “Square Style” flotation device resembling a Boat Cushion or a “Ring / Horseshoe Buoy.”

A USCG Type IV Device is not designed for unconscious individuals, non – swimmers or children. These life-saving devices should be readily available for deployment at all times whether @ the slip or underway. The typical “Square” boat cushion Type IV carries a minimum buoyancy of 18 lbs., and the Type IV “Ring or Horseshoe Buoy” carries a minimum buoyancy of 16.5 lbs. USCG Regs state that any vessel over 16 ft. in length carry onboard at least one (1) of these Type IV Life – Saving Device’s.
