Waxes, Compounds, Electric Buffers
Gelcoat, which is a protective marine polyester barrier coating applied over Fiberglass Cloth, Matt & or Roving, will become dull & chalk like in appearance, over time. In order to maintain a great shine on all your Gelcoat Surfaces you’ll need to first use a marine rubbing compound to remove the dullness. If the Gelcoat is severly oxidized then a Heavy Duty Rubbing Compound will be required. This should be done using an electric buffer set at the "low rpm" level. Be certain not to hold the buffer in one spot on the Gelcoated surface for long or you’ll remove the actual Gelcoat down to the Fiberglass. Then you’ll be faced with having to re-spray the Gelcoat, which can be costly.
We stock a great selection of Marine Waxes, Rubbing Compounds, & Electric Buffers from Marine Manufacturers like 3M, BoatLIFE, Flitz, Shurhold, & Sudbury.
