Circuit Breakers

Circuit Breakers, simply put, are mechanical devices that protect wires on your boat from short circuits. They provide overcurrent protection without damaging themselves. We measure the circuit breaker by its amperage or current that will cause it to trip. If you notice that a circuit breaker, on your boat, has tripped than its most likely a good indicator that something is not right on that circuit, and deserves investigation. This is especially true if you attempt to reset the breaker and it trips immediately again. If you have a voltmeter you can test the breaker. If you don’t have a voltmeter we recommend that you engage the services of a certified marine electrician to determine what is causing that specific breaker to trip. Captain’s Marine Supply stocks a wide selection of many different types of Circuit Breakers from Blue Sea Systems. Shop with us today & save on all of our quality marine electrical products.
