I purchased this to add to my PFD, in case I end up in the water. Peace of mind to know that you have some communication if things go bad. Long battery life too. Highly recommend!

Bought this VHF radio for a trip down to Baja with my sons as a back up radio. I got it in time, but it would not charge. I tried to call the number on the box to troubleshoot and no return call just a voicemail. Really upset about buying this product with no customer service with standard horizon technical support. An addition I had to stay close to shore because of no back up radio.

When the radio is working I love it. The problem is that you can only charge in the cradle and it doesn't always charge. After only two months of usage it would no longer charge. I sent it back to manufacturer and they had it for four months. Got new one, two months later won't charge. When you're out cruising you can't afford to have equipment that is unreliable.
