Marine Speakers are either the strongest or weakest link in your Onboard Marine Audio System. When installing “Flush Mount” Marine Speakers ensure you have adequate space behind the cut-out. You’ll need at least a cubic foot of area behind the speaker. A space that is too small, behind the speaker, will impact the speaker’s cone, which moves air back & forth to generate sound. Marine Speakers should also be rated for at least the same RMS Watts Output as your Marine Radio Receiver.

Many Marine Speakers, like Fusion, have an IP Rating (Ingress – Protection) of IPX5, which means that they have been tested against low pressure jets of water from all directions in a controlled environment. If you’re planning on installing your own Marine Speakers near a Magnetic or Electronic Compass be certain the Marine Speakers feature Magnetic Shielding. If they do not than your ability to navigate will be impacted.  

You’ll also want to use either 12 or 16 AWG Gauge Marine Tinned Copper Wire to connect your Marine Speakers to your Marine Radio Receiver. Be certain to connect the (pos) speaker cable to the (pos) input on the back of the Marine Radio Receiver, & (neg) to (neg) alike.
